This year we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Union victories at Gettysburg and Vicksburg. These events marked a critical turning point in the Civil War and paved the way for the North’s eventual victory. New Yorkers participated in these and many other battles, making a significant contribution to the War effort. You can learn more about New York’s involvement in the Civil War and the impact it had on the state by clicking one of the buttons below or visiting the State Capitol’s newest exhibit.
